Alnwick finally leaves Spurs

0

Hide and seek champion Ben Alnwick has left Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer to sign for Barnsley.

The 25-year-old had been with Tottenham since early 2007 when he moved from Sunderland in a £900,000 deal and only managed a sprinkling of senior appearance for Spurs including in a League Cup semi-final second leg defeat to Burnley – thankfully we won 6-4 on aggregate.

IrishSpur and IanB also rightly mention he played for us against Man Utd.

He had loan spells at Luton, Leicester, Carlisle, Norwich, Leeds, Doncaster and Leyton Orient during his time as a Spurs player and will now try and gain regular football with the Tykes after penning a two-year deal.

In all fairness, the majority of Spurs fans felt that Alnwick should have moved on years ago rather than be our fifth choice keeper!

  1. He also played in a cup tie against united and a league game against burnley were we threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2. Was a strange signing based on the fact he saved a robbie keane penalty on his debut.

  2. He came south to us and Martin fulop went north to Sunderland. Yes, the fulop who chucked two goals in the back of his net, playing for WBA, on the final day of the season to help the goons come back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 and pinch third. I hate them both. Useless twats.

  3. Shows whats wrong with football today. Can't sack the player for not doing his job properly like in "normal" working situations. He should have been sent packing 3 years ago

  4. fulopwas paid to do what he did, the champions is worth 50 million, so chucking the yit 10 aint a prob is it, thats my opinion
