“Arsenal can’t even master BATE on Valentine’s Day” – Some Spurs fans mock rivals

After Arsenal fell to an embarrassing defeat in the UEFA Europa League away to Belarusian minnows BATE Borisov, Tottenham Hotspur fans have wasted no time in mocking their North London rivals.

A 45th minute goal from the home side gave them a 1-0 win against Unai Emery’s side. To add to Arsenal’s humiliation, BATE’s last competitive game was two months ago with their last fixture taking place on December 13th when they beat PAOK 3-1 in the final match of the group stages.

BATE had never won a European knockout match before tonight and their whole squad cost just £200,000 to assemble (AccaTracker) which is £150,000 less than Mesut Ozil earns in a single week at the Emirates (The Sun).

In contrast, Tottenham continue to impress in the Champions League with a convincing 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the round of sixteen last night and are in the driving seat to book their place in the quarter final stages.
