Arsenal legend linked with move to Tottenham

Former Arsenal midfielder Steve Morrow is being linked with a move across North London to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Mirror report that the 49-year-old has been placed on a shortlist to replace Tottenham’s Head of Academy Coaching and Player Development, John McDermott.

Spurs announced last month that McDermott is to leave the club in June after working in the academy set-up for the last 15 years and will take up the role of Assistant Technical Director at the Football Association.

McDermott helped to develop a number of players who have gone on to become household names including Andros Townsend, Harry Winks, Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Danny Rose.

Morrow left Arsenal’s academy last year after playing a key part in the development of their young players which saw Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah all break into the first team.

The report claims that Spurs could have an increased focus on youth development in the future due to the financial impact of the coronavirus with Morrow considered to be one of the best in Europe.
