Arsenal player claims they should join Spurs in the Champions League for this reason

Tottenham Hotspur go into this afternoon’s match against Everton at the new stadium knowing that their top four destiny is in their own hands.

A draw will be enough to guarantee Mauricio Pochettino’s a top-four finish for the fourth consecutive Premier League season and the third successive season in which they have finished above Arsenal.

The Gunners currently sit in fifth place in the table and need a miracle if they are to cause a shock by leapfrogging Spurs on the final day of the season.

They find themselves three points behind and are eight goals worse off; meaning they need to go to Burney and not only win but either need to find the back of the net more than they have in any game this season and hope Everton can beat Spurs.

Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if they are able to beat Chelsea in the Europa League final; if they fail they will be condemned to another season of Thursday night football.

Their midfielder Granit Xhaka believes that all of the top six in the Premier League can cut it in the Champions League and his suggested that all six should be in the competition such is the quality of the English top flight.

He told BT Sport: “Every team that can get to a final is strong enough so, we know Chelsea, we play a lot against them,”

“Four teams in the final shows everyone what a league the Premier League is and we hope we are ready for the final.

“You should have to go for the first six from the Premier League into the Champions League, so strong is the league.

“It is only four teams, four teams in the final now and so we can be proud.”
