Tottenham Hotspur will be without at least six players for tomorrow afternoon’s Premier League opener against Newcastle United.

Missing from the trip, as confirmed by the club’s official site will be Victor Wanyama (knee), Erik Lamela (muscle injury), Juan Foyth (thigh), Cameron Carter-Vickers (groin), while Josh Onomah and Harry Winks are slowly easing themselves back into first-team training after missing the tour of the USA through injury.

Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to training on Monday and Mauricio Pochettino confirmed during yesterday’s press conference that ‘some’ of these players will be able to play a part in the match at St James’ Park.

Spurs fans will be hoping for a repeat result of last season’s first match when Spurs came away from the game with all three points courtesy of goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies.

  1. Well you true Spurs supporters ,Tomorrow is the first game of the new season .
Levy and Poch decided that our squad is strong enough to compete in the Premier league ,and could not find any home grown players to improve on our 25 player Championship squad.
I personally have trust and belief in the chairman and manager ,and believe that they have the finances and stability of the club at heart for the future.
We are never going to be able to compete with the American,Russian ,Asian,Arabic backers who only use their clubs as a side interest, and would leave them in the lurch if their finances crash.
The last 5 years have been the best seasons we have had in a long time, and the young players comeing through ,will see that continue.
So let us all get behind the team in a positive way,and look forward to the new season .
