At least six missing for Spurs ahead of Newcastle opener

Tottenham Hotspur will be without at least six players for tomorrow afternoon’s Premier League opener against Newcastle United.

Missing from the trip, as confirmed by the club’s official site will be Victor Wanyama (knee), Erik Lamela (muscle injury), Juan Foyth (thigh), Cameron Carter-Vickers (groin), while Josh Onomah and Harry Winks are slowly easing themselves back into first-team training after missing the tour of the USA through injury.

Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to training on Monday and Mauricio Pochettino confirmed during yesterday’s press conference that ‘some’ of these players will be able to play a part in the match at St James’ Park.

Spurs fans will be hoping for a repeat result of last season’s first match when Spurs came away from the game with all three points courtesy of goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies.
