AVB tells QPR: Parker and Dawson are not for sale

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has no plans to let Michael Dawson and Scott Parker join QPR in January.

Both players have been linked with a move to the Premier League strugglers, notably due to the fact that former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is now in charge at Loftus Road.

Dawson started out of favour under AVB and could have joined QPR in the summer, but decided to remain at White Hart Lane instead.

AVB views Parker has a regular in his midfield but admits that he must battle for a place with Sandro and Dembele who have both been magnificent for us all season.

“At the moment it’s very unfair on me to try to say what QPR’s decision-making is in the transfer window,” said Villas-Boas.

“Obviously Harry knows these players very well and if he has to add to his squad he will certainly look to our players but we are not looking to sell those two, or loan them.

“Scott has been gaining fitness. I think Scott will be playing regularly here. For the player that he is, I think he has to.

“He has to compete, like Dembele and Sandro have to, but we recognise the importance of the player and we rate him very highly. He offers us more possibilities.

“He has experience and leadership qualities. Scott is key to the team. We lost first Mousa to injury, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul and Scott, and we’ve been very patient.

“Younes still has to recover from injury and get match fitness, so we need cover and Jan Vertonghen has been playing at left-back so we are not excessive in terms of numbers. But we are not looking for Dawson to go.”
