AVB’s post match comments vs Inter Milan

Andre Villas-Boas has called on his Tottenham players to learn their lesson after suffering a 4-1 defeat at Inter Milan.

Spurs went into the second leg with a 3 goal advantage and nearly blew it were it not for an Emmanuel Adebayor goal in extra time which allowed us to scrape through on away goals.

We missed the natural width of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon, Sigurdsson did well but it does just highlight how much we do miss Bale.

“I complimented Coach Andrea Stramaccioni,” AVB told Sky Sport Italia.

“Tonight we suffered what Inter did in London. When the mind isn’t working, everything becomes a catastrophe.

“I think every time Inter scored, they felt stronger and it was like a knife wound for us. We really struggled a lot.

“The players did brilliantly to go through. I could not be afraid, because I felt the team was going towards its objective.

“However, this was a real lesson for us and we must learn from it if we are to become great in Europe.”
