Bale nervously avoids return to Spurs question

Gareth Bale was questioned about a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur following his heroics in the Champions League final and nervously dodged the question.

The Welshman came off the bench in the 60th minute of the match against Liverpool and scored a stunning overhead kick within minutes of coming on the field and grabbed a second later following a horrific mistake from the Liverpool keeper.

If Tottenham could get over the hurdle of Bale’s £350,000 a week current salary, they would likely have to try and battle with Manchester United who are long term admirers of the 28-year-old.

I’d love to see Bale back in a Spurs shirt, but I cannot see it happening purely for financial reasons.

He told the press conference: “I really don’t know. It’s something I’m going to have to sit down with my agent and discuss.

“Obviously I need to be playing every week. I feel like I should be playing every week. If that’s not the case here then it’s something I’m really going to have to consider.

“The game has literally just finished so I have a long summer to relax and unwind. Maybe I’ll stay here, maybe I won’t. We’ll sit down in the summer and try and resolve the issue.”

  1. Gareth Bale in a Spurs shirt … again … would be absolutely brilliant. His speed might not be the same but he’s still quick, in running and thinking…

  2. Amazing footballer. Come onMr Levy. Bale would be the difference for spurs.
The last two years he spent at spurs he was unstoppable.

  3. He would be the difference in those games where teams park the bus. His free kicks and long range shots alone would be worth an extra 15 point imho

  4. Hell yes but not gong to happen has he wont accept 150 grand a week because Levy will not go above that.

  5. Anyone thinking Bale won’t want near parity to what he earns now is dreaming. Yes he wants to play week in week out but he also knows what he’s worth. If Spurs are to sign him it is going to take some very clever jiggery pokery from Levy. I’m always hearing what a financial genius he is though, so let him prove it.

  6. What a player, we must bring Gareth home.I reckon 150k a week plus 10 to 15 mil sign on payment structured as part of the purchase deal could do it,

  7. Love the idea of a Bale return but his wages would cripple us and obliterate the dressing room. We really need a few players not just one it, pains me to say
