Barcelona star issues warning to Spurs

Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has warned Tottenham Hotspur that they will not ease off despite having already qualified for the next stage of the Champions League.

Tottenham travel to the Nou Camp knowing that they must equal Inter Milan’s result when they host Inter Milan at the San Siro. If Mauricio Pochettino’s side fail to do so, their Champions League campaign will be over and they will drop into the Europa League instead.

Barcelona have not lost a Champions League match on their own turf since they lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich in May 2013 and Vidal insists that the Blaugrana will not roll over for Spurs.

Vidal is yet to win the prestigious European competition in his illustrious career and despite the fact Barcelona are guaranteed to win the group, they want to finish Group B unbeaten.

It remains to be seen whether the likes of Lionel Messi will take to the field on Tuesday night, but Barcelona are out to get the win regardless of who lines up.

He told the Express: “Let’s be clear, as Barcelona players we want to finish this first phase without losing a game and with ours heads held high and ready for the next stage.

“We may have first place already assured, but finishing the group with a win in front of our own fans is the only way to go into the next round with a good taste in the mouth.

“So, against Tottenham, you can be certain we won’t change our pattern of play.

“Nobody will be relaxed or reserving strength or holding anything back.

“We will be the same Barca as always – with a very clear goal that we want to win the game.”
