Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been reassured over his future by head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Bentaleb has struggled with injuries this season which has seen the Algerian international make two appearances from the bench since his return.

With Eric Dier and Dele Alli now first-choice in the holding midfielder position, Bentaleb has to earn back his place and will be looking to do so starting with the FA Cup replay at Leicester City where he is expected to start.

Pochettino said: “From the beginning, he had a problem. He missed 17 or 18 games with re-injury. The team moved on and another player had the opportunity to play.

“But we keep a very good relationship with Nabil and be sure that, if he works like he works in the last few weeks, he will have the possibility to play. It’s always about a football decision, and performance.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. A truely terrible player, can only pass two yards left or right, never plays a defense spliting pass and loves to loose the ball.
In all fairness he is very good at finding row z…

  2. Dier & Deli Ali have NOT been first choice in the holding midfielder position. That's been Dier & Dembele with Caroll replacing Dembele when he has been injured or rested.

Deli Ali has been used as one of the three attacking midfielders.
