Berahino to sign this week?

Tottenham will sign West Brom’s England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino for £15m in the next 48 hours.

That is what is being reported in today’s Sunday Express, the paper claims that Berahino will snub any offers from West Brom to double his £15,000-a-week wages after setting his heart on joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The West Brom striker has previously played with Harry Kane on numerous occasions at England Under-21 level and is the perfect foil for the big Spurs front man in the eyes of the Tottenham hierarchy the report goes on to suggest.

Berahino scored 14 goals for West Brom last season and there is no doubt that we need to bring in another forward to contribute towards the goal tally, rather than just relying on Kane. If we are to break back into the top four we need two prolific strikers.

The futures of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado still remain up in the air. Adebayor has been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa, while it’s best for all parties concerned if Soldado tries to get his career back on track elsewhere.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Berahino would be a steal at £15m. He and Kane have linked well at U21 level and both have scored consistently when playing together. Would be very excited to see them together at WHL. Both are unpredictable players which will mean a huge headache for defenders.

  2. Don't disagree. Saido is intelligent as his 10 GCES would suggest. Don't know whether this is a good or bad thing for coaches/managers to deal with. That said, it would suggest that treated in the right way and with similar intelligence , his attitude and professionalism could improve. When he plays for West Brom he looks almost disinterested at times. When he plays for England that changes, so playing for a bigger team like Spurs may well have a positive effect.

  3. It's no brainer for Berahino to join Spurs and further his career, also joining his England U21 team mate up front.
He'll get all the discipline he needs under Poch and it could be the start of a top career. I'd of thought that £15m was a bit too cheap, but maybe that price takes into account his problems off the pitch.

  4. Spoken by somebody that has obviously only seen him on MOTD. I agree that he will eventually play for a much bigger team, and for considerably more than the fee being quoted, but Spurs do not fall into that category. Big clubs spend big, Tottenham sell big.

    • For the last time. The kid has a well documented attitude problem….one decent season and 2 years on his contract. 15 million is realistic. P.s all big clubs sell big too. You might want to remember that. Big players gir for big fees aka Ronaldo and bale. Berahino has along long way to go before he hits that level. You sound like your about 10 years old

  5. Good additional to Spurs. This lad has quick feet will complement Kane aierial abilities. Next SAS pairing in the making

  6. Bit of a moody so and so, but so was our last diminutive striker, defoe. If he starts sulking at spurs he'll have bagged a tonne and would be looking to link up with bale in madrid. hurrah! That would be the best outcome for spurs. Kane can relax, but not too much and his presence will have a good effect on Berahino, I think.

    • £15m living in dream world, lazy journo story, WBA don’t need to sell, still has 2 years on his contract! If spuds are going to get him it will be for double that figure! Dream on boys

      • No mate you dream on …30 million for a kid with 2 years on a contract and one ok season. Your a fool. 15 tops or we can just wait 18 months and get him for free or if he has a poor season or gets injured he will be worth 10 million after 1 more year. By that time your more inclined to wait 6 months and sing for free. Why are west Bromwich fans so deluded when it comes to berahino's value?

        • Bobby, what planet are you from? 15 million today gets you [email protected]@k all, certainly not a u21 English striker who scores plenty of goals in the prem. You spurs fans rate Kane at £50 million but Berahino at £15 million. Middlesbrough have just bid above 12 million for Rhodes from Blackburn, he has never played in premiership. When he leaves he will go to a top 4 club not top 6 club or Newcastle who are also deluded. Keep dreaming kid, way off with your price! Also, if he let his contract run down, would you be confident he would join spurs? Doubt it very much

  7. Berahino is a perfect fit for Spurs. A proven goal-scorer in the Premiership, an under 21 international, and a player who will compliment Harry Kane's style of play and cause plenty of trouble upfront for our opponents this season. Sign him up Poch, Saido will score plenty of goals and enjoy his football at White Hart Lane.

  8. Charlie Austin is the man.
Scores lots of goals in the Premiership.
    A good partnership with Kane.
    No baggage.
    Go and get him…….

  9. 15 million, your havin a laff . our chairman wont let him go for less than 24 million.we dont need to or want to sell.if shaw was worth 28m and benteke 32m he is priceless

  10. No chance in the world that Peace and Levy could agree a deal in 48 hours or that West Brom would sell him for £15M. He is our only goalscorer and the difference last year (and no doubt this) between relegation and a seat at the Sky trough.

  11. I agree Austin is the better deal. Physically and technically stronger . The number of goals he scored in an audacious team like QPR is phenomenal and speaks for itself
