Boyhood Evertonian Holtby aiming for Spurs win

Boyhood Everton fan Lewis Holtby is looking to get one over the Toffees today when he lines up for Spurs.

The German Under-21 international’s father is an English RAF veteran who met Holtby’s mum while he was stationed in Germany. Chris Holtby is a lifelong Evertonian and will be looking to get on over his father who will be at White Hart Lane to watch his son in action.

With injuries to Bale and Lennon, Holtby is expected to be named in AVB’s starting line-up.

Holtby said: “Of course he’ll be at the game but I don’t know which end he will be sat in.

“He told me he is going to wear his Holtby shirt with an Everton badge. So I hope we can win and show him up!

“It’s going to be emotional to play Everton because in my childhood I always supported them.

“But now I am playing for Tottenham and am happy to be playing at the Lane, with fantastic support from the fans all the time.

“I am buzzing for this game and I just hope we can win it.”

He added: “We didn’t really have the money to go to Goodison, it was difficult.

“I watched them all the time on television but now it’s 2013 and I’m playing for a wonderful team like Spurs.

“My aim is to win this game and perhaps put my childhood dreams away.”
