Brazilian winger speaks on rumoured transfer interest

Ajax’s Brazilian winger David Neres has been linked with Tottenham and Roma, according to Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf.

The 21-year-old has scored one goal in nine appearances this season for Ajax, chipping in with four assists in the process.

Neres is attracting interest from a number of European clubs but insists that he is keeping his feet on the ground and focusing on the job in hand at Ajax.

He is currently contracted to the former European Cup winners until 2022 and revealed that he has been offered a new deal to extend his stay at the club. A move to try and fend off potential suitors.

If Neres did make a move to Tottenham, he would join former Ajax players Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Davinson Sanchez in making the switch to N17.

He told De Telegraaf: “I’m going to focus on the interest of other clubs only when my agent will say that Ajax are ready to negotiate

“I’ve read about the interest of Borussia Dortmund but, as I said, I am not focused on it. I am only thinking about Ajax at the moment. I am flattered by the interest of such a big club, I’m honored that they want to invest a lot of money to sign me, that means I’ve taken the right path.

“Ajax have offered me a contract extension and that’s another proof of my good work here. It shows that the club appreciate what I do and that’s an incentive for me to work harder and keep improving.”
