Charlie Nicholas shares his Everton v Spurs prediction

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match at Everton this afternoon.

Spurs find themselves in thirteenth position in the Premier League table going into the match while the Toffees are just one place above the relegation zone.

It is a must-win match for both sides who are looking to reverse their terrible start to the new campaign.

Spurs will once again be without long-term absentee Hugo Lloris, who is joined on the sidelines by Erik Lamela (hamstring) and Danny Rose (suspension). Jan Vertonghen is rated as doubtful due to a hamstring problem (Spurs official).

Nicholas is predicting more misery for Mauricio Pochettino at Goodison Park with a defeat which would condemn us to our twelfth away Premier League match without a win.

The former Arsenal player claims that Mauricio Pochettino does not have the right balance in his side with issues particularly in defence and midifield.

He told Sky Sports: “This is the game. There is no doubt that Marco Silva is under the most extreme pressure and the only reason he is hanging on is because of his home record. Mauricio Pochettino can take another hit as they are in the Champions League.

“They did not play too badly at Liverpool, but the Tottenham issues are in defence and going forward. Does he have the right balance? Does Dele Alli deserve to be in the team? Why is Lucas Moura not playing? Christian Eriksen is a passenger at the moment, so he doesn’t belong in the team. There is too much confusion at Tottenham. The manager is not the problem but there is something within.

“They have not signed players on longer-term contracts, like Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. Danny Rose is an accident waiting to happen, while Serge Aurier has been a disaster. It will be an open game and Silva will pick an attacking team here. It is so hard to predict what will happen to either of these sides.

“Prediction: 2-1.”
