Former Chelsea star claims Aurier signed for wrong team

Former Chelsea player Didier Drogba has claimed that Serge Aurier has joined the wrong team.

Drogba, a fellow Ivorian was asked for his reaction to the 24-year-old right-back joining Tottenham, to which he jokingly claimed that he should have signed for Chelsea.

Aurier was heavily linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United, but decided on a switch to Spurs after being impressed with Daniel Levy’s willingness to travel to Paris to persuade him to join the club.

Drogba played for two years alongside Aurier for the Ivory Coast national team and refers to the Spurs defender as his ‘little brother’.

Aurier could be in line to make his Spurs debut against Borusssia Dortmund in the Champions League opener at Wembley tomorrow evening.

He told Sky Sports: “I just spoke to him a few hours ago,”

“He’s so happy to be in England and of course we’re going to help him.

“He’s my younger brother so I’m going to give him some tips.

“He players for the wrong team!

“But I’m very happy for him, very happy for his move.”
