Confirmed Line Ups: Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United

Mauricio Pochettino has named his Tottenham Hotspur side for this afternoon’s Premier League match against Newcastle United.

Spurs take to the Wembley pitch knowing that if they can beat the Magpies, they can move up to second in the table and will overtake Manchester City by one point due to Pep Guardiola’s side not being in action until tomorrow when they face Arsenal.

It was refreshing to see the side get back to winning ways against Watford on Wednesday night, albeit leaving it late after suffering consecutive defeats that ended our hopes of winning a domestic cup this season.

Victory or defeat here would see Tottenham set a new Premier League record of most consecutive games without a draw (currently 28).

Spurs have lost just one of their last 26 home Premier League games in February (W18 D7), a 0-4 defeat to Manchester United in 2007.

Here is who starts this afternoon:

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris (C), Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Winks, Sissoko, Eriksen, Lamela, Lucas, Son.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Foyth, Rose, Walker-Peters, Dier, Wanyama, Llorente

Newcastle United: Dubravka; Yedlin, Schar, Lascelles, Lejeune, Ritchie; Perez, Longstaff, Hayden, Atsu; Rondon

Subs: Woodman, Manquillo, Fernandez, Clark, Barreca, Kenedy, Joselu
