Danny Rose happy to stay at Sunderland

Danny Rose has revealed that he is delighted to be staying at Sunderland for the remainder of the season.

The Tottenham Hotspur left-back joined the Black Cats on loan in the summer and has been one of their best performers so far this season. It has also worked out well for Spurs, Assou-Ekotto’s injury has seen Kyle Naughton’s progression in a Spurs shirt and also Rose’s development at the Stadium of Light. We’ve had two young left-backs playing regular first-team footballers for the past few months.

Depending on BAE’s future, Rose could make a permanent move to the north-east at the end of the campaign and judging from his quotes below it could be something which he is open to.

Rose said: “I spoke to the manager (Villas-Boas) on Saturday and asked him what was happening because I wanted to know myself.

“I’m very happy up north. I’m close to my family and playing every week.

“I love the staff, players and management here and I’m not looking to go back south and not play.

“I’m settled here so I wanted to know what was going on.

“He told me the plan was to stay for the full season and whatever happens after that is out of my hands. Then it’s between Sunderland and Spurs.”
