Blackburn want David Bentley

Sunday reports are linking David Bentley with a possible move back to Blackburn Rovers.

Bentley has failed to hold down a regular first-team place at Tottenham since his £15million move in July 2008 and has only managed to make 42 appearances in Spurs colours. His most memorable moment came when he scored a superb 35-yard goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in the 4-4 draw during October 2008.

He has since been loaned out to Birmingham City, West Ham and FC Rostov with injuries also hampering his progress. Bentley earns £50,000-a-week at Spurs which has also put off potential suitors but according to the report in the Daily Mail, new Blackburn boss Michael Appleton wants to sign Bentley on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Bentley’s contract expires a the Lane in the summer, so if we can loan him out and get Blackburn to pay a proportion of his wages for the final few months then it would certainly ease our wage bill.

It’s a shame it hasn’t worked our for Bentley at Spurs, but the form of Aaron Lennon he’s better off leaving for pastures new.
