AVB warns Moyes against Bale bid

David Moyes has been warned off from making a move for Gareth Bale by Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Moyes will replace Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of Manchester United in the summer and speculation has once again increased linking Bale with a move to Old Trafford since the announcement.

Spurs are set to offer Bale a new contract at the end of the season which is rumoured to be worth £130,000-a-week to the Welsh winger. He is already contracted until 2016, but a new contract would go a long way to keeping him at the Lane regardless of what European competition we end up in.

“I’m pretty sure that whatever David does in the market will be excellent. But to get a player of Gareth’s dimension is firstly not in our interests but also very, very difficult to get,” Villas-Boas told the weekly press conference.
