Defender on his way for Spurs medical

It has been one of the most long-winded transfer sagas of the summer, but it looks as if Tottenham are finally on the verge of signing Juan Foyth.

The transfer has almost had more twist and turns than a soap opera, mostly thanks to Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the player. However, it appears that the Estudiantes defender is travelling to London to undergo a medical with Spurs.

Cielosports, a news outlet in his native Argentina are reporting that the deal has been done and has said his goodbyes to everyone in his homeland.

Reports in previous weeks had claimed that Foyth and his parents were holding out for a move to Spurs over PSG.

At 19, Foyth is regarded as ‘one for the future’ rather than being ready to push for a starting place against the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and the recently-signed Davinson Sanchez.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers heading out to Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal, it now only seems a formality before Foyth is announced as a Spurs player before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Also expected to be joining the Spurs ranks is PSG right-back Serge Aurier. Expect Kevin Wimmer to finally get his move to either Stoke or West Brom.

It’s going to be a busy few days for Pochettino, Levy and co.
