Defoe ruled out for up to three weeks

Tottenham have been dealt a huge injury blow with the news that Jermain Defoe could be out of action for three weeks.

The Spurs striker has aggravated a muscle injury which he first tore last month. He will definitely miss the Basel match on Thursday and the Premier League visit of Everton on Sunday, with AVB hopeful that Defoe can be fit to face Manchester City on April 21st.

The pressure will now be on Emmanuel Adebayor to finally come good and pull himself out of the lack of form and confidence which he seems to be battling.

“Jermain has a muscle injury which is probably going to take him out of the next two games definitely and maybe Basel away,” Villas-Boas said.

“If he can’t make Basel away he should be fit for Man City.

“It’s a big blow. It’s on the same muscle that he had a small tear last month. It’s on the other side now and it’s a big miss as he represents a lot for us and he will be a big miss.”
