Dele Alli’s chances of featuring against Newcastle is answered by Mauricio Pochettino

Newcastle United are the visitors to North London on Sunday afternoon and are still looking to pick up their first point of the season under new manager Steve Bruce.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have picked up four points from a maximum six available to them after beating Aston Villa and battling to a draw with Manchester City last weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino was without the services of Dele Alli for both matches with the midfielder having missed the start of the campaign following a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season.

Tottenham revealed earlier today in their team news update bulletin on Twitter that the England international has now returned to full training this week.

Pochettino was posed the question at today’s press conference at Hotspur Way whether Dele will feature against the Magpies and was cautious with his reply.

The Spurs manager revealed that the club will hold one more training session before making a judgement on his availability.

Pochettino told Football.London: “I think we have one training session more and then we decide.”

Opinion

Given the fact that Dele has suffered four hamstring injuries in the past two years (Standard), Spurs are certainly right to take every precaution regarding his fitness.
