Tottenham fans were left wondering the whereabouts of forgotten man Erik Lamela earlier today.
The midfielder last played a senior match for Tottenham 397 days ago and there were rumours that he could have been included in today’s match day squad after he was not involved in the Under-23’s away match against Manchester City which kicked off before the disappointing draw with West Brom.
Lamela featured in last weekend’s U-23’s fixture against Chelsea, his first competitive match since being sidelined in a period where he underwent hip surgery and spent time away from Tottenham, working with medical staff at former club Roma.
Pochettino confirmed on just over a week ago that he is asking Lamela on a daily basis whether he is ready for first-team selection.
However, the real reason for Lamela’s omission from either side was revealed when he took to Instagram to announce the birth of his first child. Congratulations, now get those boots on and get your career back on track!
