Eriksen calls for calm

Christian Eriksen has called for calm around Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League come the end of the season.

An horrific run of form in recent matches has seen Spurs go from potential title contenders to looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack that includes the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side return to Premier League action next Sunday with a tough trip to Anfield to face a Liverpool side who are challenging Manchester City for the title.

Eriksen is refusing to look at fourth place in the table due to the fact that the side find themselves a place above in third.

Spurs are a point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal and three better off than Manchester United in fifth.

After managing only a single point from a maximum twelve available, Spurs fans will be looking for a much better performance in the remaining eight league matches.

“In the club it’s all about the Champions League and about joining the league so we can get a Champions League place next season,” Eriksen told Danish publication B.T.

“After we smoked out of all other cup tournaments, we focus on the Champions League.

“Fourth place is not in danger, because we are still number three, although some teams have come closer because we have not got the points we would like to have in the last few matches.

“During a season, there are many outcomes and different things.

“One could also see how far Manchester United was after, but it changed very quickly.

“For us, it’s about getting a little more out of fighting than the last four games we’ve played.”
