European giants set to offer player new deal to fend off interest from Spurs among others

Tottenham Hotspur ended Ajax’s hopes of making it to the Champions League final last week following a dramatic comeback in Amsterdam.

Spurs went into the second leg looking to overturn a 1-0 loss suffered at the new stadium when Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek cooly slotted the ball beyond Hugo Lloris in the 15th minute following a slick passage of interplay from the away side.

The midfielder was impressive during the match in North London and is said to have caught the eye of Spurs. His stock has risen so much following Ajax’s impressive European campaign that a number of European clubs are said to have now added the 22-year-old to their summer shopping list.

Dutch football outlet Voetbalzone report that the Dutch giants have offered van de Beek a new contract to try and fend off interest from potential suitors. Spurs are said to be considering a move for the player as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen who is out of contract next summer.

He has made 57 appearances for Ajax in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 13 assists.
