Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs were offered Real Madrid defender

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and North London rivals Arsenal have both been offered the opportunity to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

Reguilon, 23, spent last season on loan with Sevilla where he helped the Spanish side to lift the Europa League crown with his performances having said to have attracted attention from the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Juventus (Marca).

Romano has revealed that while both North London clubs have been approached by Los Blancos, neither club have decided to make a formal offer for the left-back with the journalist claiming that his days at the Santiago Bernabeu look to be over.

The Guardian reported last month that Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho is not looking to add a left-back to his squad this summer due to limited transfer funds and will instead keep faith with Ben Davies while also promoting academy graduate Dennis Cirkin to provide cover.

Danny Rose still remains on Tottenham’s wage bill with less than a year to run on his contract and has not been involved in any of the club’s three pre-season matches to date.

“Reguilon has been offered to Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham,” Romano told the Last Word on Spurs podcast (34 minutes).

“Many clubs are considering him because, in my opinion, he’s such a good player, he had such a good season with Sevilla.

“Napoli are also considering him, he will move from Real Madrid. But there are no talks to sign him at the moment.”
