Figure of Mourinho’s recent frustration involved in North London derby against Arsenal

It has been confirmed that Michael Oliver will be the referee for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Arsenal on Sunday (Premier League).

The North London derby will take place at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the very first time since being built on the back of a tense 1-0 victory against Everton on Monday night to ensure they did not drop into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Head coach Jose Mourinho expressed his frustration which was aimed at Oliver last week when he was the designated video assistant referee who chalked off Harry Kane’s equaliser against Sheffield United (Football.London).

He ruled out the effort when the ball hit off the back of Lucas’ arm as he hit the floor having been fouled, with even accidental handballs being a cause of goals being ruled out.

It is not the first time the Portuguese has publically criticised Oliver when he claimed in January after a 0-0 draw at Watford that the referee had made “very bad decisions” in choosing not to send off Etienne Capoue (BBC).
