In what should have been the opening game at Tottenham’s brand new 62,000 seat stadium, Spurs stuttered to a 2-1 loss against Liverpool at Wembley today.
The defeat continues a run of sub par and tired-looking performances this season, including the three points dropped away to Watford last time out.
We look at five things we learned from the Liverpool game.
Liverpool are title challengers
As tough as it was to watch, Liverpool looked head and shoulders above Tottenham today in almost every respect, and will surely be the ones to push Manchester City for the title.
They were sharper, defensively stronger, more clinical and smarter than Spurs in all areas of the pitch today, and continue their 100% Premier League record this season.
If Spurs want to join them at the top of the table, they now have six points to make up, and many more gears to find.
