Flog It! Tottenham 2010 edition – Keep or sell?

Jermaine Jenas - Header

Influenced by the daytime TV programme Flog It, one of our visitors (Gino Ginelli) has decided to do his own Spurs take on it – by either hoarding or flogging members of the squad this summer.

Take a look below:-

Heurelho Gomes – Arguably the best stopper in the league. Hoard It

Carlo Cudicini – Able and experienced back up, questions over if he can ever play at the same level after his horrific accident. Hopefully Hoard It.

Ben Alnwick –
Showed his limitation against Burnley. Not a big deal if we move him on. Flog It

Michael Dawson – Awesome Dawson and deserves to be in the England squad. Hoard It.

Jonathan Woodgate – Had a torrid and depressing time with his injury. It would be crushing for him to never fully recover after all this time. I hope he can return and regain his previous imperious form. Hoard It.

Ledley King – Need I say more. Hoard It.

Sebastien Bassong – Has been very good for us in supplementing the defence this year, and would normally be a first choice anyway. Plenty of pace and strength, has to gain experience with positioning and the like, but bags of talent. Hoard It.

Younes Kaboul – Questionably returned to us as some sort of helping hand to Portsmouths ailing finances, has acquitted himself well at RB when called upon, and also did a decent job as a holding midfielder. As such I would no longer label him as a CB, as he is actually fairly woeful in that position. Limited in defensive concentration and concentration, he seems to enjoy bombing on as opposed to having the discipline to hold deep. I would say Hoard It as he has proven useful, but ultimately I don’t really care if he stays or not so Flog It.

Vedran Corluka – Iceman at RB, never flaps, never panics, always in control. Can get turned for pace but is more key than others give him credit for. Hoard It

Kyle Walker – Not seen much, has plenty offer going forward, but has lots to learn defensively. Hoard It.

Kyle Naughton – Only had a couple of showings early on, but like his namesake he managed to exhibit plenty of pacey promise. Has gone onto become a first-teamer at Boro, to the point where Strachan wants to keep him. Like Walker he’s a one for the future. Hoard It.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto – As I previously described, zen-like professional, always dedicated. Zero bullshit tolerance. I like, I like a lot. Hoard It.

Gareth Bale – Is more a left midfield player than a full-back if you ask me. Offers so much going forward, exhibits freight train like running, exquisite delivery and explosive finishing. Like Marc Overmars mixed with Bryan Robson. Brilliant. Hoard It

David Bentley – Non-existent for about a season and a half. Lennon’s injury gave him his last chance, but he took it. Never sensational but near always dependable, has undoubted quality on the ball and great delivery. He may have found his place as a squad member here, but I have the feeling he may move on if the offer of first team football was made. Hoard It, but only if he wants too.

Aaron Lennon – Hoard It. Most dynamic, threatening right winger in the league. Period.

Wilson Palacios – Prone to giving away silly free-kicks and getting booked, and short range passing is suspect, but is a beast in the centre and our midfield has instant muscle when he’s in the team. A fine proponent of the Makelele role. Hoard It.

Jermaine Jenas – Please, please, PLEASE SELL!! My arch nemesis for far too long at this club. Flashes of brilliance all to infrequent amongst the abject mire of apathy that otherwise passes for this once “future England captain” is among the chief of my frustrations surrounding this guy. Nice bloke, but mid-table player at best. Flog It

Luka Modric – Our Iniesta. Just add goals and you have one of the best creative midfielders in Europe. Hoard It

Tom Huddlestone – Fast becoming our Xabi Alonso. Plays the ball from deep, short, long, through ball, headed clearance… you name it. Starting to add late runs into the box and getting his blistering firepower on target. Supreme technique. Becoming my kind of player. Hoard It.

Niko Krancjar – Stepped in for Modric for an absolute snip! How was Kaboul £5m yet this lad only £2m?! Talented attacking player from the wing or centre, creates and scores goals. Maybe a bit lightweight and luxury for the first team, but superb to have in the squad. Hoard It

Danny Rose – Goal of the season from the young lad, but not much chance to do anything else. He deserves the chances though. Hoard It.

Jermain Defoe – Top scorer this season. Was in blistering form for the first 4 months, but injuries to Lennon and himself conspired to rob him of his most potent source and then his fitness and form. Still our most natural finisher. Hoard It.

Roman Pavluychenko – Love him. Frozen out of the team for half a season, then took his chance and then some. Dropped off in the last few games but was nigh on unplayable for a long spell of fantastic goal scoring. Excellent all round CF. Hoard It.

Peter Crouch – Where Crouchy is limited in technicality and proliference, he more than makes up for in sheer effort, attitude and experienced presence. Knows how to shield the ball, hold it up and lay it off/flick on. He may miss more than he scores, but the ones he scores are always important. Squad is stronger for his presence, no doubt. Hoard It.

Eidur Gudjohnsen – Not seen enough of him as I’d like. Genuinely classy, intelligent player in a Sheringham mould and lifts our technical ability and ball retention up a big notch when he plays. I would Hoard It if we are allowed.

Giovani Dos Santos – Bags of talent, but doesn’t seem to enjoy England too much. Would probably happier in Spain / Portugal / Turkey. Flog It

Adel Taraabt – Hyped to bloody high heaven. Then found himself benched by QPR. Flog It

Jamie O’Hara – Great attitude, good left foot and gives his all for the team. But would be a squad player at best. Flog It.

Robbie Keane – If Robbie came back and continued his hot streak from Celtic then magnificent, despite better defences and all that. One of my favourite premiership players of the last decade, he generally has everything, if not the drive for spurs anymore. Would really love it if he stayed and was excellent again in which case Hoard It, but if the love is gone from both sides, then best to Flog It.

Alan Hutton – Apparently loving life at Sunderland, so who are we to deny him it. Flog It.
