Former Arsenal captain forced to eat his words over Spurs player claims

Former Arsenal and England defender Tony Adams has been forced to eat his words after previously blasting Tottenham’s World Cup stars prior to the competition starting.

The former alcoholic predicted that England can punch above their weight in Russia, but former Gunners defender believed there was one thing holding them back.

With five Tottenham players included in England’s squad, Adams questioned their psyche after claiming “they don’t know how to win”.

Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli started the match against Colombia, with Danny Rose and Eric Dier making appearances from the bench.

Kane, Trippier and Dier had the bottle to step up and score in the penalty shoot out to silence Adams and his negativity.

Maybe Adams should focus on his own career instead, having failed to win any of his seven matches in charge at Spanish outfit Granada last year.

“You must be able to handle winning emotionally and mentally and if they don’t know how to win it, they aren’t going to win it,” Adams told The Sun.

“I’m really worried about these Tottenham players, I don’t think they know how to win.

“They’re very good players but at certain points in seasons and tournaments, you have to step up — there’s a psyche players must have.”

  1. Perhaps now the Hate Spurs agenda from, lets face it, a lot of other clubs fans but especially ex Gooner players will stop and the they get behind the whole squad regardless of which club they play for. Just a bunch of nice lads trying their best for the England fans who deserve a bit of glory.
