Former Premier League boss describes Pochettino as one of the best in the world

Former Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway has described Mauricio Pochettino as one of the best managers in world football.

Pochettino joined Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton in May 2014 and has transformed the fortunes of the Premier League outfit during his five year stint at the North London club.

Spurs have now finished in the top four in each of the last four seasons and also enjoy the bragging rights over rivals Arsenal having finished above them for three consecutive campaigns.

The manager guided Spurs to an unexpected Champions League final despite having to rotate an injury-hit squad which has been devoid of recruitment for over 500 days whilst also having to deal with the ongoing stadium delays and having to play at Wembley for a large portion of the season.

Hollway is expecting Pochettino to once again finish in the top four of the Premier League alongside Manchester City and Liverpool yet feels that Brendan Rodgers could cause a surprise with Leicester City by finishing above both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Hollway told talkSPORT earlier today as quoted by the Leicester Mercury: “I’m going for a dark horse to be up in and around the top,”

“I’d love to see one of my old clubs Leicester City up there because it didn’t go very well for me there. I’d love to see them burst into that top group with their manager.

“I’m going for managers. Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City have, for me, three of the best managers in the world. Then I’m looking at Brendan Rodgers and his experience.

“At Leicester City, what can he do? Wow, that’s what I’m thinking.

“If Chelsea go for Frank, he’s still cutting his teeth, but I think that’s the right thing, I don’t think they can give it to anyone else. Man United have stuck with Ole.

“For next season, I’m always looking at the managers side of things, let’s see what inexperience does against experience.”
