Former Spur believes all the pressure is now on Liverpool

Graham Roberts has urged Tottenham Hotspur to try and push on and catch Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The Reds suffered their first league defeat of the season last night at the hands of fellow title contenders Manchester City. Liverpool had the best of the opening few moments, but it was City’s 2-1 scoreline which mattered most.

Roberts believes that when all of Tottenham’s injured players are back in action, the club have a chance of topping the table.

Mauricio Pochettino has been without the services of Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela in recent weeks.

Liverpool have been relatively lucky with escaping injuries to key players this season. If Mo Salah or Virgil Van Dyke were to be sidelined for months on end, they would be in serious trouble.

The defeat means that Tottenham are just six points behind Liverpool and two points off second-placed Manchester City.
