Former Tottenham Under-23 defender makes move to Serie A

Former Tottenham Hotspur academy player has completed a permanent move from Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact to Serie A side Bologna.

Binks, 18, left Tottenham in February to the MLS side but will now head back to Europe to line up for the Italian side.

Bologna and Montreal are both owned by Joey Saputo, and as part of the agreement the central defender will remain with the Canadian outfit on loan until December 31.

He revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail in April that Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho tried to persuade him to remain in North London but instead wanted to play regular first team football.

It is a shame to see the club having lost such a highly regarded youngster but the reality is that his opportunities at the club would have been limited with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga all ahead of him in the pecking order.
