Former WBA boxing champ celebrates Spurs’ win on Twitter

Former WBA and lineal featherweight boxing world champion Barry McGuigan posted on Twitter after Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 win against Cardiff City yesterday evening.

The victory took Tottenham back to second in the table and McGuigan, who is a Spurs fan was delighted with his side’s display.

Following the disappointing result against Wolves on Saturday, Tottenham killed the game off in the first half with three early goals to take the wind out of Cardiff’s sails.

Goals from Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son proved to be more than enough against the Welsh side.

Being a Spurs fan is a family tradition for McGuigan, who has followed the lilywhites dating back to the days of the legendary Danny Blanchflower who is a fellow Northern Irishman.

Growing up, McGuigan ‘s favourite players were Jimmy Greaves, Martin Chivers and Martin Peters, and following Spurs is a tradition which he has passed on to my children.

These days, McGuigan keeps himself busy as a boxing manager and promoter.
