Franco Baldini to leave Tottenham

Franco Baldini will leave Tottenham at the end of the transfer window, the Daily Telegraph are reporting.

The Italian has been at White Hart Lane for the past two years and according to the report, has agreed his severance package with Daniel Levy and co.

Baldini was brought in to work with Andre Villas-Boas and was the catalyst in our £110million spending spree of the Gareth Bale money.

Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches have all flopped and departed N17.  Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli have faired better while the jury is still out on the biggest signing of them all, Erik Lamela.

I’ve often thought over the past 18 months, what exactly is it that Baldini does at the club?  One thing is for sure, he won’t be remembered fondly by the Tottenham Hotspur faithful.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I should think so too! He let us down so badly. Baldini had no conception of who Tottenham Hotspur are so went out and got anybody he could. All good players I hasten to add, just not the type suitable for our style of play. Good riddance. Baldini will be remembered as a failure at Spurs. I forgive you, now go.

  3. Really pleased with the announcement but saddened that his departure is at the end of this window and not the beginning. Here we are on the eve of a new season having lived on scraps of rumours and gossip for the past few weeks with nothing tangible to show. Yes we have made a couple of decent signings but how happy I would have been to see headlines including "Adebayor Leaves On Loan" and "Soldado Transfer Confirmed" together with "Berahino joins Spurs". The lack of transfer movement causes me grave concern but Baldini leaving has definitely brightened up my day

  4. I think he stitched Spurs up over Lamela, as the Roma boss said 'I don't think Levy ever came to terms with what happened in that deal', in other words Spurs were conned.

  5. Chadli seems to be just about the best of the bunch now, Eriksen is still a bit hit and miss. The other five are all useless. Lamela and Soldado are a joke. Baldini should be sued for wrongful representation, he is never a talent scout or whatever he thinks he is.

  6. Still waiting for one of you bloggers to explain to me how Paulinho was a Baldini signing when he was at the club before Baldini. If your going to blog, please get your research right. Agree Paulinho was a flop, but not a Baldini flop.

  7. Good news and not soon enough! he was a total disaster with the signings he bought in but at the end of the day Levy employed him so should carry the can. Baldini should be investigated for the expensive deals Lamela £30 million? Paulinho £17 million? how much of them fees went into the back pocket of Baldini on the quiet especially the Lamela one?

  8. Tottenham Hotspur agree severance deal with Franco Baldini The Guardian Franco Baldini has agreed a severance package with Tottenham Hotspur and the sporting director will leave the club after the transfer window. Director of football will go at end of window having overseen a profit in each of three summers at club, but with several high-profile signings failing to impress.
