A voice in his head would have been screaming ‘wake up! wake up!’ because he was living through a nightmare in the opening quarter. A callow youth he gave a vital ball away and got nowhere near the man thereafter. But how often is lost possession in your own half punished like that?! Got booked when he was caught out again. But he had the character to get back into it. He didn’t look out of place thereafter, both attacking and defending. OK.

Summary

This was a great performance, one of the best ever. OK, they didn’t win but no one would have given them a snowball’s chance in hell of qualifying three games ago. And they did it – they bloody did it! Character, yes, buckets of character. But skill too.

They went to the Nou Camp and utterly dominated second half. Their collective touch around the eighteen yard area was positively Barcelonesque. We’re so proud of those players.

Now, we look forward to Monday and learn of who we will face in the next round.
