The Frenchman’s distribution was highly disrupted in the first-half due to an intense Burnley press, and in the second half I believe he should have done more in both of the goals. His lack of command of the box and communication contributed to a rather poor second goal.

Tottenham’s title bid suffered a major blow despite a goal from Harry Kane as Burnley condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor.

Not even Kane’s goalscoring return after six weeks out with an ankle injury could inspire Spurs to a victory which would have moved them to within two points of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top.

It was a disappointing display by Mauricio Pochettino’s side with even the most optimistic of Spurs fans now accepting that our title hopes are a thing of the past.

  1. I’ll go on record here… the boom on Winks is ill-founded. Doesn’t think fast enough, doesn’t have a killer through-ball and overplays the safe game.
Add to that, two ineffective wingbacks who simply cannot cross the ball consistently, Eriksen and Son who both went missing and Foyth for Sanchez and we were always going to struggle against a well-drilled 10 man defence.
