Llorente scores the goal he was bought for just as we became resigned to the fact we never score from corners or dead balls delivered by Eriksen. He seems at long last to have the confidence (he fought to get his position on the cross) to be a genuine option from the bench. Wanyama and Lamela also appeared.

Match Summary

What a night! What a night of European football! Three – nil to take to the second leg. Sensational. But also, what a transformation from one half to the other.

In the first half we witnessed a Spurs side with such limited belief. No ferocity in their pressing. And in possession: conservative pass, conservation pass, pass, long, hopeful ball. No belief in their ability to build with threat.

Second half, better positioning at full back admittedly, but just really belief. From the whistle, we took command, pressing high up the pitch. Dortmund were nowhere. Big players took control, none more so than man of the match, Jan Vertonghen.
