Graham Roberts offers a honest assessment of Spurs’ defeat to West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur were looking to go into Tuesday night’s Champions League semi final first leg against Ajax on a high with a victory against West Ham United, however, this afternoon’s match against the Hammers was a complete disappointment.

A toothless and uncreative performance from Mauricio Pochettino’s side saw them lose for the first time at their new 62,062 capacity seater stadium courtesy of a Michail Antonio effort in the 67th minute which was also the first time any opposition had found the back of the net since returning home to N17.

Former Spurs defender Graham Roberts took to Twitter after the 1-0 defeat and admitted that the players looked tired and it was not a performance of the usual standard expected from the fans.

The players must now put the result behind them and try and focus on the visit of Ajax in what is our biggest match in a generation.

While Mauricio Pochettino has limited options in whether he can shuffle his side for the clash with the Dutchmen one thing is for sure, if they perform as they did against West Ham then the tie could be all but over after the first leg.

Here’s what Roberts had to say on his Twitter page.
