Harry Kane’s cheeky reply to Cliff Jones’ congratulatory goalscoring message

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has thanked Cliff Jones for his well wishes after his latest goal took him level with the Welshman in the club’s all-time goalscorers’ list.

Kane’s deft chip in the 82nd minute of the FA Cup tie on Friday evening at Tranmere took him to 159 goals joint level with Jones in fourth place in the prestigious list.

Jones, who at 83 is still seen at Spurs matches was delighted that Kane had equalled his record and send a Tweet to Kane, of which the England skipper replied with some banter.

Kane stated that he hoped that he will only be sharing joint-fourth place with Jones until Tuesday when Spurs are in Carabao Cup semi-final first leg action against Chelsea.

Who is above Kane in the all-time goalscoring list?

1 – Jimmy Greaves – 1961-70 – 266 goals in 379 appearances
2 – Bobby Smith – 1955-64 – 208 in 317
3 – Martin Chivers – 1968-76 – 174 in 367

If Kane wants to get to the top spot, he needs to score another 108 goals which is certainly a realistic target.
