His ego failed him – Spurs fans react to expected Edwards exit

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on social media to the news that Marcus Edwards will seek an exit this summer after accepting his chance to break into the first-team under Mauricio Pochettino has gone, according to The Guardian.

Just two years ago, Spurs boss Pochettino likened Edwards to Barcelona ace Lionel Messi, but has only managed a 15 minute stint in a 5-0 League Cup win against Gillingham in 2016.

Edwards spent time on loan at Championship outfit Norwich City last season but failed to make an impact with the Canaries which resulted in his stint being terminated early due to ‘personal reasons.

The Telegraph reported at the time that Edwards had allegedly failed to arrive on time for a single training session and was also late for team meetings, along with a reluctance to integrate well with the squad.

Here’s a selection of views from your fellow Spurs supporters.

  1. It’d be a shame to lose Marcus Edwards. By now he’s old enough to have worked out how to function effectively in what is a team game. Talent is nice to have for a person, yet it’s Talent + Organisation + Self-discipline, multiplied by Hard Work, that is the formula for success. It’s not even a secret formula.
