Video: “I never saw them as title challengers” – Former Arsenal player rules Spurs out of title race

Former Arsenal midfielder Perry Groves has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were never really genuine contenders for the Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho’s side had found themselves top of the Premier League table at the start of the month having beaten Manchester City, Arsenal, West Brom while also being held to a draw at Chelsea.

However, their form has dropped recently having drawn at Crystal Palace and suffered consecutive defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Leicester City.

Yesterday’s loss to the Foxes has seen Spurs drop down to fifth in the table and are now six points behind leaders Liverpool.

Groves, whose Arsenal side are fifteenth in the table following their defeat to Everton believes that Spurs are more likely to be challenging for a top four place rather than rivalling Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He highlighted how prolific Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have been in front of goal while stressing the unsustainability of their rich vein of form over the course of a season.
