“I still hope this guy has a future” – Some fans react to confirmation of January departure

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Kyle Walker-Peters has left the club to join Southampton on loan for the remainder of the season.

The academy product started the season in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven in the first three Premier League matches of the season but has failed to appear since.

The deal is said not to include the option to make the deal permanent both clubs failing to agree a fee with Spurs said to value the right-back at over £12million (Standard).

Walker-Peters has featured just once since Jose Mourinho took over as head coach at the end of November when he was named in the weakened side which lost 3-1 to Bayern Munich a the Allianz Arena.

Mourinho has instead put his faith in Serge Aurier as his first choice right-back.

Crystal Palace were also keen on the 22-year-old who has instead made the move to Tottenham’s FA Cup fourth round opponents.
