Injury boost for Spurs ahead of Dortmund clash

It has been confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will be without their star man for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Marco Reus picked up a thigh muscle problem during their DFB-Pokal cup match on Tuesday evening which saw the German international have to be replaced at half time after scoring a free-kick.

The match proved to be one to forget for Dortmund after losing on penalties to Werder Bremen, they also threw away a three goal lead on Saturday and ended up drawing 3-3 with Hoffenheim.

The absence of Reus represents a huge boost for Tottenham considering the form of the German international this season. Reus currently tops the Dortmund scoring charts having bagged 13 goals and set up nine more in 19 Bundesliga games.

Tottenham have injury woes of their own with Harry Kane and Dele Alli both sidelined.

Dortmund will be hoping that Reus recovers in time for the second leg on March 5th.

Dortmund official Sebastian Kehl told Sky Sports: “We would of course have liked to have him in London, because his presence is a bit intimidating for the opponent. But we’ll compensate for his absence.”
