Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the news on social media that Toby Alderweireld has been named in the starting line-up for this afternoon’s match against West Bromwich Albion.
The Belgian defender has not started a match for Spurs since the draw at Brighton, however, today is named in a central defensive trio of Alderweireld, Sanchez and Vertonghen with Trippier and Rose as full-backs.
Many had thought that Toby would not start another match under Pochettino due to his current contract deadlock with the club, but will instead get some valuable first-team action ahead of his likely stint in defence for Belgium in the World Cup but who cares about that!
Just get the contract signed, Toby – you belong at Spurs. Here’s a selection of Tweets from your fellow Spurs fans.

Can’t help but feel pissed off that Toby is playing. If it’s okay for him to come in now, what was wrong with him playing in the semi final?

This is…interesting. Toby back = a return to 343, which’ll suit a Wanyama Eriksen CM pair better than a 4231. Shame for Sonny to miss out, though he’s not been in brilliant form recently. https://t.co/MgwMQ9N4Cq
