Italian legend believes Spurs are the easy opponent in Champions League

Former Italian defender Alessandro Costacurta has claimed that he would rather see Juventus face Tottenham Hotspur than Porto in the last eight of the Champions League.

The draw for the quarter final of the Champions League takes place on Friday with the Italian side having booked their place in the next round last night.

Juventus came back from a 2-0 deficit at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the first leg to win 3-0 in Turin courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.

Despite Tottenham having comfortably swept aside Borussia Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate in their respective tie, Costacurta still believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would represent their favoured opponents.

Spurs went out of the tournament at the last sixteen stage last season at the hands of Juventus, eventually losing 4-3 on aggregate following a disappointing second leg at Wembley.

Supporters will be hoping that Costacurta is left to eat his words if the draw does indeed turn out to be a rematch of last season.

He told Calciomercato: “I hope they don’t draw Porto. I’d rather prefer to play against Tottenham than Porto. Spurs can be more deconcentrated while Porto are tricky.”
