“If Spurs want to do anything it would interest me”

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to take Jake Livermore to Queens Park Rangers.

Redknapp was speaking at the usual pre-match press conference and we all have experience in how ‘Arry loves to talk about transfer targets during the transfer windows.

Livermore made 24 Premier League appearances under Redknapp last season and has performed well when he has come into the team, which saw him earn his first England cap in August against Italy.

There’s plenty of competition in the Spurs midfield, especially with Sandro and Scott Parker playing in a similar role to Livermore to it remains to be seen if AVB would be willing to part with the 23-year-old.

Redknapp said: “Jake’s a good player. I have bags of time for him and if Spurs want to do anything it would interest me.

“I speak to them [the QPR board] every day about who I want, we go through the list and see if there is anyone we can find. We will come up with one or two before too long.

“Getting out of trouble will be almost as good as winning something with the position we’re in. It’s better than sitting in mid-table and seeing the season out.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. a whole hearted player who always gives 100% – but limited ability – not good enough if Spurs wan't to be a top 4 side. Best for everyone if he moves on.

  2. Or, @tryme and @tony, we could loan him and wait and see. Lets not write-off a young player so readily or quickly. He was good for us last season, he might get better and be a useful squad player.

  3. Any team needs "water carriers" and Jake's one of them. He's nowhere near his best yet but is already a decent player. I'm with alex, i'd be more inclined to loan him out and see what he can do playing week in week out. If he has a good season at QPR bring him back and save ourselves a few quid finding someone else to sit on the bench, if he doesn't show much sign of improvement sell him to them.
I like the Holtby signing, it's pro-active and he's a good player. Does it mean that we're not going to bring someone in this window now though? We still need a bit more creativity in the middle for the second half of this season.

  4. Now we have bought more talent in midfield for next season then no need for a loan now to keep for the future. Would have suggested a loan but if we can sell then best for both now. I recognise he needs to play so a loan or sale would be welcomed. Thanks Jake but just don't think you will cut it in the future with Sandro, Holtby, Dembele, ahead of you from next season.

  5. listen to talksport and type in commoli and listen to his interview about sterling, he talks about bale, taraabt, fascinating stuff COYS

  6. Sissoko looks like it is a done deal on another pre contract so it makes scene Livermore would leave along with Huddlestone and Jenas. Hopefully we will sign Moutinho this window so we have a bit of creativity and we can finally play AVB's 4-3-3 formation. Also we need a QUALITY striker bad I am hoping Llorente but it looks like he is going to Juventus.

In the summer we will have Sandro, Sissoko and Parker as our CDM in the 4-3-3. Dembele and Moutinho as first choice CM's and Holtby and hopefully Eriksen and Sigurdsson and that will complete our midfield 8. I for one think that would be a brilliant squad or midfielders.

Don't let Gallas have another contract, sell Dawson and bring in Alderweireld and get Gomes and Bentley of the books and we have a quality squad.
