Jamie Redknapp urges Spurs to sign £85m Champions League winner

Sky Sports football pundit Jamie Redknapp has urged Tottenham Hotspur to make a star signing this summer.

The former Spurs midfielder would like to see Gareth Bale return to North London and once again pull on the famous lilywhite shirt.

Bale left Spurs to join Real Madrid in 2013 for a then world record fee of £85million and has gone on to win four Champions League titles with the Spanish giants (BBC).

The Welshman’s time in Spain appears to be turning increasingly sour, with the fans and media in Madrid dramatically turning against the 29-year-old this season.

He was jeered when he was substituted in the 61st minute of the 1-0 defeat by Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu, with a local radio station then claiming that Bale had left the stadium before the end of the match.

Bale has been left out of Real Madrid’s squad for successive matches this month with some suggesting that manager Zinedine Zidane wants to sell him this summer (Mail).

Redknapp believes Spurs should make a move for their former player who scored 42 goals in 146 appearances in the Premier League.

“His Real Madrid days look numbered. I’ve heard that clubs in China are keen to sign Bale, but I would love to see him return to Tottenham,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

“Imagine him lighting up their new stadium!”
