Tottenham Hotspur are about to embark on another campaign after travelling to Singapore for their first pre-season friendly of the season.
One player who was on the plane to the Far East yesterday was playmaker Christian Eriksen.
The Dane has just twelve months to run on his existing deal at Spurs and spoke in early June about his desire to seek a new challenge ahead of the new season whilst also inviting interest from Real Madrid.
While there has been no official approach from the Spanish giants (Guardian), Eriksen’s future could potentially still lie in North London come the start of the upcoming Premier League campaign (Ekstra Bladet).
One player who hopes he will be lining up alongside Eriksen next season is Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian claimed that Eriksen is still happy to be at Tottenham whilst making more of a general statement about the high levels of content among the squad.
When asked about Eriksen’s future, Vertonghen told the Metro: “Christian loves it here but I can’t speak for him. I think we’ve got a great club and from what I can see, everyone is happy to be here.”
