Jan Vertonghen reacts on Twitter to news of midfielder’s new contract

Jan Vertonghen has taken to Twitter to react to the news that Moussa Sissoko has signed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

Sissoko has penned a contract extension in North London until 2023 after completely transforming his career at the club following a difficult start after his move from Newcastle.

Vertonghen, who is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the current season would as things stand, be able to agree to a pre-contract with a European club in January and walk away next summer on a free transfer; along with Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld who are currently in a similar situation.

The Belgian Tweeted a play on Sissoko’s name of ‘#Sissocoys’ after the news was announced by the club.

Vertonghen has recently come back into the Spurs side after being completely left out of the opener against Aston Villa and found himself on the bench for the trip to Manchester City.
